When you have entered the room and dominated it, the next step is to move
and clear barricades, connecting rooms, people and dead in the room.
There are many ways to do this but here are listed some techniques used in
the past:
2 man entry.
2 men enter a room with a barricade. After they dominate the room, the
operator who has the barricade in his AOR calls: “barricade moving”.
If there is a back-up man outside the room he will move with the operator
and provide back-up / secure him while he clears the barricade. After he has
cleared the barricade they move back and report “clear”.
If there isn’t a 3 operator, the second man in the room will back him up, he
might move with him or stay in his AOR. It depends on the situation. When
all is clear they report “Room clear” and continue.
4 man entry.
When 4 operators entered in some form of wall flood the same tactic can be
used.
The two men on the left side of the door is a team. And the two men on the
right side of the door is a team consisting of a contact man and a cover
man.
The contact and the cover man, clears there AOR one object at the time and
when they are done they move back to the wall. The two operators in the
second AOR starts clearing any problems in there sector. When all is clear
they report “Room clear” and continue.
A more dynamic way to clear the room with 4
men.
When the 4 man team is in the room one operator who isn’t securing any
critical points commands “I have control” and a second operator says “I’m
covering”.
Then the two operators move around in all the AOR in the room clearing,
while the rest of the team provides security. When all is clear they report
“Room clear” and continue.
Element Swarming.
The element enters left and right of the door and clear the hard corners.
While they go for the corners the rest of the element will enter the room
going left and right clearing the centre of the room.
When the corners are cleared the first 2 operators move along the wall to
the next door or barricade, the rest of the element moves along behind the
first two.
If they pass a place / barricade where a person might be hiding or another
threat would appear, for example a closet, the front operator drop down on
one knee and secure this with his muzzle, he might call “Holding” to let the
other operators pass by.
The rest of the element passes by to the next barricade or room, and so on.
The same goes when a person is on the floor. One man covering on his knee.
When the manpower allows and a operator don’t have anywhere to go, he will
stack up at a kneeling operators and they will perform a 2 man clearing on
the closet/barricade/person.
If it is a person, one operator stays and secures him. If it’s a barricade
the 2 operators fall in at the back of the team and continue.
This is a quite fast technique but needs a lot of operators.
